Friends House

Resident activities

Whether you enjoy gardening and outdoor activities, tours and cultural events, community activism, or simply curling up by the fire with a good book, chances are Friends House Residents’ Association (RA) has a program for you! A special quality of Friends House is the active role residents play in the life of the community. The RA is self-funded and self-governed. Money is raised through a resident-run resale shop, called the Elephant Shop, and a finance committee of the RA allocates funds to the committees and programs.

A few of the committees are:

  • Creative Arts (multiple)
  • Music Programs (multiple)
  • Program Committee
  • Gardening Committee
  • Library and Book Club
  • Programs and Tours
  • Wellness Committee

For a more complete list of committees and programs with descriptions, explore our Resident Association Committees and Activities.

At Friends House, seniors bring their wisdom and experience to the community and they, in turn, are nourished — physically, intellectually, and spiritually — by the vitality of the community. Located on 62 gently rolling acres in Sandy Spring, Maryland, Friends House has activities to help seniors realize their potential at every stage of life.
