Ligon’s Run, Walk, Stroll and Roll
Our 5K, Ligon’s Run, will be held on October 6, 2018.
The Ligon 5K Trail Run takes place on the scenic, rural campuses of Friends House Retirement Community and the Sandy Spring Friends School. Named in memory of beloved community leader John Ligon, the race takes runners through wooded footpaths, across a meandering stream and over the gently rolling hills of this historic community. Cash prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place male and female finishers in the trail run. The entry fee is $28 per runner. Each pre-registered runner will receive a t-shirt, finisher’s medal and snacks. To register, click here.
We invite enthusiasts of all ages and abilities to join us for a parade on a paved surface prior to the start of the race. Strollers, walkers and other assistive devices can be used in the parade—feel free to express yourself by decorating yours! Parade participants do not pay an entrance fee (although donations are always welcome), but may purchase a t-shirt at the event, depending on availability.

All proceeds of the race will benefit Aging Well with Friends, a comprehensive wellness program for seniors in the Sandy Spring/Ashton/Olney area.

Your t-shirt and bib will be available for pickup October 4th and 5th from 12:00 – 2:00 and 5:00 to 7:30 at Friends House.
The race will begin, rain or shine, at 9:00am. This is a trail run, so expect the unexpected—narrow paths, protruding roots, fallen leaves and acorns-you may even see some wildlife!
