From the beginning, Friends House has had a commitment to simplicity, equality and inclusiveness. The same values that have served this community well for the first 50 years are guiding our redevelopment and expansion in order to preserve the qualities that make us unique. The new homes will offer modern amenities but will be simple in design and in tune with the natural surroundings. Our greatest resource — the men and women who live here — will continue to be our first priority.

At Friends House, we recognize and value the wealth of experience and wisdom our elders bring to the community. Opportunities for lifelong learning, social and cultural events, and meaningful contribution through a host of resident-run committees and activities keep Friends House residents active. Walking trails, gardens and a tranquil pond offer opportunities to enjoy nature and see wildlife. Ideas for activities come from residents, who design, plan and carry out the programs.

Also, as a Continuing Care Retirement Community, or CCRC, Friends House offers services and facilities to ensure that this will be a home where you can age safely and comfortably — once you join our community, you will have access to a higher level of care, should you need it. Our Health Center consistently receives the highest ranking among Montgomery County skilled nursing facilities and our Assisted Living provides exceptional care and service.
