Services

   Friends Skilled Nursing Facility provides many services to residents.  These services include nutritious, home cooked meals prepared by our in-house kitchen staff; licensed nursing care twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week; and linen, bedding, laundry and housekeeping service.  Our nursing staff follows the care consistent with orders from each resident's personal physician, and administers the medications that each resident requires.   We also have geriatric aides and a professional social worker on staff to assist in the care of our residents.

    Resident care planning meetings are held quarterly for all residents with the interdisciplinary team.   That team includes the Director of Nursing, Dietitian, Social Worker, Activities Director, Administration and Nursing Staff.  Families of residents will have the opportunity to attend those meetings if they so wish.

    Good diet is important at all ages.  Our kitchen staff prepares nutritious meals made from wholesome ingredients in a style that can only be called homemade.  Residents are given regulated portions that follow each personal physician's diet orders.  Dietary planning is included as a standard part of the resident care plan, which is reviewed regularly by a registered dietitian.  Portions not eaten are noted as well as indications of a significant change in appetite or condition.  Residents are assisted in eating, if needed.  Special diets are available.

    We offer a total program of rehabilitative services including: speech therapy, physical therapy, social services, special diets and podiatry services.  Referrals to other specialists, such as dentists, optometrists and geriatrists, are available as needed.  All residents entering the Skilled Nursing Facility must be under the care of a personal physician who assumes responsibility for the individual's medical care.

    Additional expenses for doctor's fees, dental work, care of eyes, eyeglasses, hearing aids, orthopedic appliances, x-rays, laboratory work and any other treatment will be billed directly to the resident or guarantor.

    Other services are available to residents on a fee-for-service basis.  These services include: medications ordered from our pharmacy; our beauty shop and barber services; newspapers at your doorstep; guest meals for visitors; and transportation by the Friends House automobile, ParaTransit buses and area taxis.
