Activities Friends Skilled Nursing Facility offers a broad program of staff and volunteer assisted activities. Many residents and community groups are involved in such programs as reading groups, current events discussions, movies, games, sing-alongs, music therapy, group physical therapy, newsletters and the Writers' Group. Special programs are often sponsored by visiting groups, such as the Brownies and choirs. Church-sponsored activities such as birthday parties are held, as well as scheduled Friends, Catholic and Protestant services. Many
residents take advantage of the sites in the surrounding The Residents' Council is the resident's formal opportunity to participate in the decision-making related to life at Friends House Retirement Community. It is a channel for two-way communication between residents, staff and administration. It allows for complaints and suggestions affecting residents to be shared. The Council becomes one of the forums for promoting self-determination. Residents are encouraged to take the initiative to speak on the circumstances around them. All services and volunteer programs are open to all residents. Residents are free to pursue their own interests, to take part in as many--or as few--group activities as they care to and are encouraged to contribute in ways of their own choosing.
