Medical Care

Friends House does not assume the responsibility for securing or coordinating medical care for residents.  For such needs, Montgomery General Hospital and the Medical Center are within two miles of our community.  We are also served by paramedic, ambulance and fire rescue units located within one mile of our campus.

Residents reaching a point where they are no longer able to take care of themselves will be required to make other living arrangements.  Admission to Friends House does not guarantee or provide for continuing care in Friends House Nursing Home or any other long-term facility.

Friends Nursing Home, an 82-bed, long-term nursing facility located on the grounds, gives preference to Friends House residents whenever possible, but this accommodation depends upon availability.

Transportation

Friends House residents may own and drive a car as long as they are physically fit and mentally alert enough to operate it safely.  Unassigned outdoor parking surrounds the apartment complex.  Alternative transportation is available for those who do not drive or own a car.  Friends House is served by Montgomery County "Elderbus", metro area buses, subway and taxis.
